MAXTON — Two people have been charged in connection with the shooting death of a 32-year-old Maxton man in October, according to Police Chief Tammy Deese.
Camelle Demonte Williams, 20, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of Slone Oxendine Lowery, Deese said in a statement. Kyree Donjuan Murphy, 22, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
Lowery was shot in the left hip on Oct. 30 near the intersection of Cottingham and Malloy streets and died Nov. 9 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Both Murphy and Williams were arrested without incident on Tuesday, Deese said. Williams has been jailed without bond and Murphy under a $150,000 bond. They were both scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
Deese declined to comment on whether Lowery had been targeted.
